Our COVID-19 and Disease Transmission Prevention Protocols at Atlas Dental
October 19, 2024
At Atlas Dental, your health and safety are our top priorities. As part of our commitment to minimizing the risk of disease transmission, including COVID-19, we have implemented a range of enhanced safeguards and protocols designed to protect both our patients and staff.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Our dental staff is equipped with top-tier personal protective equipment to ensure maximum protection and reduce the risk of exposure during dental procedures:
- N95 masks and respirators
- Protective eyewear
- Single-use, disposable nitrile gloves
Hand Hygiene
We strictly adhere to infection prevention and control (IPAC) protocols:
- All staff perform thorough handwashing or use alcohol-based hand rubs between each patient.
- Alcohol-based hand rubs are readily available throughout the office, especially at all entry points.
Physical Controls
To further safeguard your visit, we’ve implemented several physical controls:
- Single point of entry: All doors into our office are kept open to minimize the need to touch handles.
- Plexiglass sneeze-guard barrier at the receptionist area.
- Enclosed operatories to contain any aerosols generated during treatment.
Air Quality Control
Our operatories are equipped with true-HEPA and UV-C light air filters, which continuously clean the air, helping to reduce airborne contaminants. Additionally, we minimize aerosol-generating procedures whenever possible to reduce the risk of airborne disease transmission.
Sterilization Protocols
We maintain the highest standards for equipment cleanliness:
- All dental instruments are either single-use or sterilized under high heat and pressure to ensure they are free from harmful bacteria or viruses. Our sterilization protocols follow strict guidelines as outlined by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
- Operatory surfaces and instruments are disinfected between each patient.
Contactless Services
For your convenience and safety, we have introduced several contactless options:
- Digital forms that can be filled out from your mobile phone, tablet, or computer prior to your visit.
- Cashless payments are encouraged, including debit, Mastercard, and Visa.
Virtual Dentistry Services
To further support your dental care while minimizing in-person visits, we offer virtual dentistry services, including free phone consultations. This service allows you to:
- Discuss any dental concerns with one of our professionals from the comfort of your home.
- Get advice on minor dental issues and determine whether an in-office visit is necessary.
- Receive follow-up care instructions for post-treatment questions.
Guidelines for Patients
To help us maintain a safe environment, we kindly ask that you:
- Arrive on time for your scheduled visit to prevent overcrowding in our office.
- Respect social distancing guidelines, keeping at least 2 meters from others.
- Use alcohol-based hand rub upon entering our office.
- Wear a face mask at all times, except when instructed otherwise during your treatment.
- Bring cashless payment methods for a safer, touch-free transaction experience.
