What You Should Do Before Your CBCT Scan Appointment

Dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is an advanced 3D imaging technology that helps your dentist get detailed views of your teeth, gums, nerves, and bones. This scan is often used when regular dental X-rays don’t provide enough information. To ensure your CBCT scan goes smoothly, follow these pre-visit instructions carefully.

Complete the New Patient Form

If this is your first time visiting our dental office, be sure to complete the New Patient Form before your appointment. This allows us to gather essential information about your dental history, medical conditions, and insurance coverage, streamlining your visit.

Bring Your Dental Insurance Information

Please bring your dental insurance card with you, especially if you have private dental insurance. However, keep in mind that we do not accept ODSP, OW, or HSO insurance plans. This ensures there are no surprises regarding coverage.

Eat Normally Before Your Visit

There’s no need to fast before your CBCT scan. You can eat breakfast, lunch, and any other meals as usual on the day of your appointment.

Continue Taking Your Medications

Take all your usual medications as prescribed unless your dentist or doctor tells you otherwise. If there have been any recent changes in your medications or health, let us know in advance so we can update your records.

Brush and Floss Before Your Appointment

Good oral hygiene is crucial, especially before a CBCT scan. Remember to brush and floss to keep your mouth clean and your scan as efficient as possible.

Dress Comfortably for Your CBCT Scan

Your comfort is important. We suggest wearing loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment, and avoid wearing light-colored or white tops as they might get stained during the visit. Here are additional recommendations:

• Avoid wearing heavy makeup, high heels, or colored/gel nail polish.
• Remove all jewelry, including earrings, nose, lip, or tongue piercings.
• If you wear contact lenses, please switch to glasses for the appointment.
